Strangers

Two people walking,

Heads lowered to the ground,

Neither are talking,

Not a single sound.

Hands held freely,

Eyes cast down,

You glance up sweetly,

But quickly turn it to a frown.

Not a look exchanged,

Not a glance replaced,

And as if it were arranged,

You remain strangers.

Standing alone.
